Coconut + Honey Hair Mask // Clean Living

If you're anything like me, once the summer heat hits all I want to do is be by a pool, lake, ocean, etc. And as wonderful as that might sound, all that chlorine and sun isn't going to be very kind to my hair. So to remind my hair that I haven't forgotten about it, I'm going to start using a mask every two weeks to give it a shiny, silky, healthy glow. This is a natural, refreshing recipe to give your hair a youthful glow during the dry summer months.

Ingredients:

2 tbsp coconut oil
1 tbsp honey
5-8 drops of essential oil

Simply combine all of the ingredients together in a small container. If the coconut oil isn't mixing well, heat it over a stove until it becomes a softer texture. To use, apply it to your hair evenly. Once you've applied it throughout, wrap it in a loose top knot on your head and let it soak for 30-45 minutes. Then, shampoo twice, and let it air dry. Your hair will say a big THANK YOU! for its healthy new look!

Practical Floral Crown Tutorial

It's no question that I'm a sucker for a good floral crown, but I know as much as the next person that they aren't always the most practical accessory. For the summer I wanted to create a floral piece that I could wear on the more casual days with a more subtle, simple approach.

Supplies: faux flowers, jewelry or floral wire, elastic headband.
Pantry Supplies: Scissors

1.// Choosing the right flowers is the most important part of this project. I chose something that made a statement but still small enough to blend in with any outfit or occasion. 2.// Begin the project by cutting off the flowers with three-five inches of stem left. 3. // Next, twist them together in a long strip, attaching them together with the wire. I made mine about ten inches long, but you should make yours according to your crown size and how many flowers you'd like to have showing. Secure both the base of the flower and the end of the flower so that there are no loose ends. 4.// Once you've connected the flowers, attach it to the hair band with either wire or needle and thread.

I've worn mine with my hair down, covering the bottom of the hair band. Next time I plan on styling it the same as I would with it down, but then pulling back all my hair into a low, messy bun.

If you decide to tackle this project, please leave a link, I'd love to see all the different combinations!
